Come Show Us Your Fancy Footwork at GLITP & star in a Music Video!!

Kickers’ commitment to music remains as strong today as it has always been and this Sunday Kickers will be embracing the fun at Get Loaded in the Park and offering you the chance to show off your Fancy Footwork and see your dancing legs in a music video being created once the festival season has come to a close. Kickers have teamed up with American-based funk masters Chromeo and are using their underground dance floor hit Fancy Footwork as the dance track for you to show off your moves in the specially created dance studio that will be present on site at Get Loaded in the Park.

Once you have taken part and had your dance moves recorded, your individual dance will be uploaded to youtube for the world to see and you will be sent an email with a link enabling you to share your moment of fame with friends. The participants who show off the fanciest of footwork inside the dance studio will be selected to appear in the new Chromeo Fancy Footwork video being created in September. The moves are simple and are demonstrated beautifully in the video clip below, so come and visit us and show us if your legs are cool enough to appear in Fancy Footwork.

And that’s not all….For those of you who do take part you’ll be given a goody bag with some essential festival collateral and  CD with specially remixed Chromeo tracks by CSS and Sancho Panza. Click on the link below and then click on Fancy Footwork to find out more about the Fancy Footwork experience at Get Loaded in the Park:  www.myspace.com/meetthekickers

NOAH AND THE WHALE JUST ADDED!!

Everyone’s talking about Noah and the Whale, and real soon there’ll be another 20,000 people talking about them as we’re absolutely thrilled to announce the amazing folk-rock four-piece will be gracing the Get Loaded Main Stage as the final act added to the bill. We always try and keep at least one slot back for one final breakthrough band (e.g. last year we nabbed Newton Faulkner the week he went No.1!) and we’re over the moon to have captured NATW before future summer smash ‘Five Years Time’ is set to gatecrash the UK Top 10. Taken from the album Peaceful the World Lays Me Down’ (released on 11 August), ‘Five Years Time’ is a wonderfully cheery feel-good song and the perfect festival soundtrack. Whereas last year Rhianna gave us her ‘Umbrella’ track and months of rain, it looks like Noah and the Whale are the real reason behind the recent good weather as they sing about “Sun, Sun, Sun all over our bodies”!! Let’s hope so too, as Get Loaded in the Park is renowned for bringing out the summer sun! Oh, and seeing as GLITP is now in its 5th year, it was always meant to be right?

MORE ACTS JUST ANNOUNCED!!

MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS

WILEY

METRONOMY

KID HARPOON

BEARDYMAN

TODDLA T

Already touted as the best Get Loaded in the Park line-up ever, we continue to up the ante by naming six new acts to grace the festival. This latest announcement features six of the hottest new acts of the moment... from the latest Aussie sensations Midnight Juggernauts, to the Grime godfather Wiley, electronic stars Metronomy, ace singer/songwriter Kid Harpoon, reigning UK Beatbox Champion (2006/07) Beardyman and the dancehall ghetto crunk of Toddla T. All in all it’s an unmissable, genre-busting list of exciting new talent to check out on the day. Let’s dive in......

MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS

www.myspace.com/midnightjuggernauts

Midnight Juggernauts are the latest Australian electronic act to breakthrough following Cut Copy and fellow GLITP band The Presets. The band’s debut album, ‘Dystopia’ has won them universal approval and in ‘Shadows’ and the forthcoming single ‘Into the Galaxy’ they’ve produced arguably the soundtrack to the summer. Once described by Rolling Stone magazine as David Bowie if his Berlin Trilogy was a collaboration with Kraftwerk and Faust”, Midnight Juggernauts are about as hot as they come. Don’t miss ‘em!!

WILEY

www.myspace.com/eskiboywiley

Get Loaded continues to push UK hip hop/grime following Dizzee’s star turn last year with the MC known as ‘Eski’ or ‘Eskimo’aka Wiley - one of the original pioneering MC’s of the grime genre and one of the most respected UK rappers of all time. The former Roll Deep and Pay As U Go member has released many reputable albums including ‘Playtime Is Over’ and ‘Grime Wave’, but it’s through the recent No.2 selling single smash hit ‘Wearing My Rolex’ that has brought Wiley to a wider audience. Big up.

METRONOMY

www.myspace.com/metronomy

This innovative threesome have found their niche somewhere between sleazy electro and wonky pop. ‘You Could Easily Have Me’ became a club anthem and lead the band to remix everyone from Franz Ferdinand, Klaxons and Roots Manuva to Kate Nash, Sebastian Teller and Ladytron. Metronomy’s second album ‘Nights Out’ is out any time now and like us you’ll fall in love with their charming dance routines and hilarious light shows during their live performances!!

KID HARPOON

www.myspace.com/kidharpoon

Kent-born singer/songwriter Kid Harpoon returns to GLITP for the 2nd time having since established himself as a real breakthrough artist of 2008. Heavily tipped by the likes of NME and Drownedinsound.com his first two EP’s caught the eye leading to an album deal with XL, set for release in the coming months. He’s recently supported The Kooks and will dazzle us with his acoustic tones on the big day.

HOSTED BY BEARDYMAN

www.myspace.com/beardyman

As a beatboxer, Beardyman remains in a whole league of his own. As a tirelessly innovative performer, Beardyman has always pushed the boundaries of what people expect from human beatbox, merging phenomenal beatbox skills with his left-field sense of humour and incredible musicality. After winning the well renowned Lyric Pad Beatbox Battle twice in 2004, he went onto win the title of London Champion and UK Runner up in the 2005 Championships, before becoming the UK Beatbox Champion 2006 and successfully defending his title in 2007. Anyone who’s seen Beardyman will testify to the fact that he’s one of the most original performers on the planet, and he combines comedy with beatboxing in the most amazing way. He really is one of the most incredible acts we’ve ever seen and in addition to his set in the Finger Lickin’ Stage, we’re delighted to announce that Beardyman will also now be performing in front of the massive Get Loaded Main Stage crowd as he does his thing in between the headline acts.

TODDLA T

www.myspace.com/toddlat

Signed to 1695 Records (The View, Metros etc), Toddla T has come from nowhere to become one of the hottest DJs around. You’ve probably seen Toddla T’s pic with a couple of birds on his arm by now (!), but it’s his genre smash-ups that are causing a major stir with his unique take on dancehall, combined with warehouse bleeps and ghetto crunk! Check out ‘Do U Know’ on 1965 and his essential Ghettoblaster mixtape available to download from his Myspace.

FINGER LICKIN’ RECORDS 10TH ANNIVERSARY STAGE ANNOUNCED...

PLUMP DJS
KRAFTY KUTS
Special Guest: DJ YODA
THE NEXTMEN Feat. MC Wrec & Zarif
BEARDYMAN (UK Beatbox Champ 2006/07)
UTAH SAINTS
A-SKILLZ
SOUL OF MAN
DRUM ATTIC TWINS

It’s our great pleasure to announce that our 4th and final stage at this summer’s Get Loaded in the Park festival will be hosted by the undisputed king of breaks - Finger Lickin’ Records. Celebrating their 10th Anniversary in 2008, Finger Lickin’ have brought together the many very talented artists from their label alongside a few very special guests to showcase the ultimate summer beak-down and boy is gonna rock!!

Finger Lickin’ DJs will be in full affect on the day with label stars Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, Utah Saints, A-Skillz, Soul of Man and Drum Attic Twins all present and correct! Leading the charge will be the world’s numero uno breakbeat act, the Plump DJs. Previous releases on the label include the ground-breaking ‘Plump Night Out’, ‘Saturday Night Lotion’ and ‘Eargasm’... the latter of course went onto become Fabric’s biggest regular night. The Plumps’ current album ‘Headthrash’ propels them as producers into the super league and this will be their only London festival appearance this year!! Krafty Kuts is an international DJ legend, known for his eclectic mix of high energy breakbeat, electro and hip hop - there ain’t no crowd he can’t destroy with his monsters! His recent DMC ‘All Back to Mine’ mix won best compilation and last year’s award winning ‘Freakshow’ album (Against the Grain) is another in his armoury of releases. But it’s his ‘Trickatechnology’ artist album with A-Skillz that makes him an integral part of the Finger Lickin’ crew. A-Skillz himself makes a notable appearance on the day, so expect the usual mash ups and funk fuelled cuts from the party hip-hop inspired DJ/producer. Next up are Soul of Man - founders of the ‘funky breaks’ sound and producers behind the ‘Re-Licked’ double CD on Finger Lickin’ featuring all the labels’ peak time bangers. These guys are the fireworks of the party and innovators behind the Finger Lickin’ sound and will blow the roof off at Get Loaded!! Drum Attic Twins (formerly Shades of Rhythm) bring on the noize with their unmissable Dex n’ FX set, plus 90’s superstars Utah Saints cause their own havoc on the decks ripping their way through hip-hop, house, breaks and drum n’ bass. Their anthem ‘Something Good’ was re-released earlier this year, gatecrashing the UK Top 10 and with it they’ve brought the classic ‘running man’ dance back into club’s worldwide – courtesy of the track’s cult video... watch it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMLCrzy9TEs !!

Guest-wise, it doesn’t get much bigger either as DJ Yoda returns to Get Loaded in the Park for a second consecutive year. The man who can, is the cut n’ paste king as proved by his recent sell-out UK tour and ace Fabric CD, and his fresh and comic approach to DJing and Visual mixing makes his one of the most essential/important DJs ever. Fellow party starters The Nextmen also return for a second year, bringing with them an array of colour and sounds featuring everything from dubstep and dancehall, to ragga and drum n’ bass... strap yourselves in folks!! Completing this mega line-up is the UK’s current Beatbox Champion 2006/2007, the extraordinary – Beardyman. As a beatboxer, he remains in a whole league of his own and as a tirelessly innovative performer; Beardyman has always pushed the boundaries of what people expect from human beatbox, merging phenomenal beatbox skills with his left-field sense of humour and incredible musicality. Set to take over the world very soon, it’s a great honour to have Beardyman bringing his unique sound to the Finger Lickin’ Tent at Get Loaded this summer.

WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT!!

As a special tribute to Utah Saints’ sublime video for ‘Something Good’ – this summer at Get Loaded in the Park, we’ll be attempting to set a NEW WORLD RECORD for the total number of people doing the ‘Running Man’ dance at any one time!! Housed within the Finger Lickin’ Tent, around 2,000 sunny punters are set to take up the challenge – so if you want to get involved, you know where to go!! Spandex pants and headbands are optional... but strongly encouraged!! Get the look here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMLCrzy9TEs

Finger Lickin’ was set up in 1998 by Justin Rushmore & Jem Panufnik aka Soul of Man to promote their own productions and DJing. 10 years on the label has spiralled into a huge international phenomenon and has sold close to a million records. 100 single releases and 20 albums later the label is still top of its game. It’s won best Breakbeat label every year possible at the International Breakspoll awards and still continues to set the pace. Their roster boasts some of the biggest names in underground dance music ranging from the from the heavyweight Plump DJs to Krafty Kuts, A-Skillz, Slyde, Drum Attic Twins (formally Shades of Rhythm) through to the original boys behind the label Soul of Man. As well as releasing phat, funk fuelled tunes ranging from hip hop to breaks, with a healthy dose of house in between, Finger Lickin’ have also been known for their sell out events throughout London. One-off parties have been hosted at most major venues over the past decade including Fabric, Heaven, Scala, 93 Feet East, Key, Canvas and most memorably a huge 5 Year celebration at the Coronet where Dreadzone and original hip hop legend Kurtis Blow joined forces with the Finger Lickin’ DJs to perform live. Travelling the world and most notably Australia have been major highlights for all the artists, performing to 20,000 up for it, sun drenched ravers on the other side of the world is something none of them will ever forget!! Info: http://www.fingerlickin.co.uk/

The next chapter in the label’s on-going success story is set to be one of their biggest yet as the full Finger Lickin’ crew will be getting the party started at Get Loaded in the Park as only they know how...“To make Get Loaded in the Park our 10 Year celebration is an absolute honour. We’ve called in some of the labels biggest supporters and have a line-up which will take you on a musical trip, of hands in the air moments and Finger Lickin’ anthems that will show undisputedly why we are so damn Finger Lickin’ good!” (Finger Lickin’ HQ)

JUST ADDED: THE HIVES & MORE...

It’s our great pleasure to announce three more hand-picked artists set to get loaded with us this summer. Step forward North London’s The Holloways, Philly-rappers Plastic Little and very special guests The Hives - fresh from their sell-out Brixton Academy show on Friday night. The Hives are the hugely successful Swedish exports with the smart suits! The punk-influenced garage rock band got their big break in 2001 with their 2nd album ‘Your New Favourite Band’ featuring the hugely popular single ‘Hate to Say I Told you so’. Follow up LP, ‘Tyrannosaurus Hives’ secured their highest positioning/selling UK album and single (‘Walk Idiot Walk’) and 2007 saw the Scandinavian stars drop ‘The Black and White Album’ on our senses. The Brixton show was part of a spectacular sell-out UK tour and the next time you’ll be able to catch these men of matching suits on a festival stage in the UK will be at Clapham Common this summer. Joining The Hives will be London 4-piece The Holloways. Hotly tipped by NME and alike, the band formed on Holloway Road are one of the UK’s most exciting new indie darlings. They’re about to jump aboard the tour bus in support of their new album ‘XXXXXX’ and with feel-good thumpers like ‘Generator’ up their sleeves, they look set for their biggest year to date. Our third new band are US threesome Plastic Little. These guys are so hot right now and are set to explode big time this summer with Radio 1’s Jo Whiley & Annie Mac amongst the many who’re currently championing their ‘Get Close’ track, featuring the nifty ‘Cure’ sample! Other tracks like ‘I’m Not a Thug’ and ‘Crambodia’ are just as tongue in cheek, lyrically, and their phat beats and high-energy live shows make them one of the most ‘must see’ acts of the year. Don’t miss it!!

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY” IGGY POP – 61 TODAY!!

We couldn’t let this announcement pass without wishing Iggy Pop a very special “Happy 61st Birthday” from us all at Get Loaded HQ. As you know, Iggy is the wild frontman for the legendary Iggy & The Stooges and this summer the band will be headlining Get Loaded in the Park 2008. The singer with the ‘Lust for Life’ is certainly no ‘Passenger’, as his life and tour diary remains as hectic as ever. Coming to a cinema near you this year is a biopic on Iggy Pop and The Stooges’ entire career (entitled ‘The Passenger’), with Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood cast to play the lead role. Happy Birthday Iggy!!

** JUST ADDED **

Fresh from announcing the legendary Iggy & The Stooges as this year’s chosen headline act at Get Loaded in the Park 2008, we can now the reveal our second major line-up announcement in as many days, with 13 more names added to this summer’s Clapham Common extravaganza...

SUPERGRASS / GOGOL BORDELLO / KATE NASH GOSSIP / REVEREND & THE MAKERS
THE MACCACBEES / SOULWAX / MYLO (DJ SET)
BOYS NOIZE / THE PRESETS / IPSO FACTO
STREETLIFE DJS / UNION DJS

GET LOADED MAIN STAGE

The build up to Iggy & co’s spectacular finale will be rather special this summer as we invite Brit-pop heroes Supergrass and gypsy punk kings Gogol Bordello to share centre stage. Living young, free and keeping their teeth nice and clean, Supergrass will be bringing back the spirit of the 1990’s and bringing us right up to date with their highly acclaimed new album ‘Diamond Hoo Ha’. With six Top 20 albums under their belts and countless classic hits like ‘Alright’, ‘Pumping on your Stereo’, ‘Moving’ and ‘Richard III’... Supergrass are without doubt one of the most highly regarded and accomplished bands in the UK. They are at their best when playing live (as witnessed at Lock N Load Events’ Electric Gardens festival last year!) and that’s exactly why they’ll be playing before Iggy & The Stooges on the big day. Warming the stage and bringing with them a rainbow of colour will be NYC’s multi-ethnic gypsy punkers Gogol Bordello. Described by Phil Jupitus as “a bit like The Clash and The Pogues having a fight… in Eastern Europe” – the band incorporates minor-key accordion and fiddle, mixed with cabaret, punk and dub!! Gogol’s talisman is Ukrainian visionary Eugene Hütz, whose unpredictable antics on stage have made a huge star. The band formed in 1999, and an international fan base quickly grew through word of mouth. In 2002 Gogal Bordello released their debut album ‘Voi-La Intruder’ (co-produced by Nick Cave) and it wasn’t long before Gogol Bordello's live shows and Hütz's captivating performances earned them invites to some of the world’s biggest stages. Coachella, Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, Reading/Leeds confirmed them as grassroots phenomenon’s; underlined by a recent sell-out show at Brixton Academy. Heck, the band even performed with Madonna at the London Live Earth concert last year! Definitely a band worth getting loaded too this summer, don’t miss it!!

XFM ARENA

London’s leading indie/rock station XFM continues its love affair with Get Loaded in the Park as they step it up a gear for 2008 with their biggest line-up to date. First up is tent headliner and Brit Award winner Kate Nash. Nominated for three Brit Awards, Kate scooped Best British Female Solo, to put on his mantelpiece alongside her Best Solo Artist from this year’s NME Awards. She made her mark last year with the UK no.1 album ‘Made of Bricks’ which is fast approaching a million sales worldwide. ‘Foundations’ was a summer smash and confirmed her place as the UK’s hottest new singer/songwriter. Next up are Sheffield’s Reverend & The Makers - the insanely popular indie/electro/Madchester-esque/funk band signed to Wall of Sound. The ‘Reverend’ aka Jon McClure and his band smashed into our senses with Top 10 single ‘Heavyweight Champion of the World’ and support tours with Arctic Monkeys, The Verve and Ian Brown and their own sell-out shows at the Roundhouse show just how ‘on the up’ this lot are. Get Loaded salutes you! Another rising band are The Maccabees. Described as “the best new band in Britain” by the NME, the Brighton outfit are one of those ‘must-see’ bands live and any track off their ‘Colour It In’ album will make you move!!! Our final XFM act (for now...!) are Ipso Facto – spiritual cousins to the Horrors and the UK’s coolest new girl-group. Propping the bar tent at a festival near you this summer, Get Loaded are right behind this Elastica-esque 4-piece garage rockers, who have shedloads of substance to back up their abundant style. XFM’s cult presenters John Kennedy & Eddie Temple Morris keep the entertainment following.

TOGETHER / TIMEOUT DANCE STAGE

Not one for leaving out the dance kids, this year’s mentalism-tent is hosted by London’s leading purveyors of electronical music and all round sillyness, Together – in association with Timeout. Housed at Turnmills until recently Together is a raver’s paradise and the line-up on the Common is perfect for a proper summer’s day mash-up! Headlining the stage are the undisputed festival kings/queens Gossip featuring the ‘Coolest Person in Rock’ (NME Cool List, 2006) Beth Ditto on lead vocals. Gossip’s single ‘Standing in the Way of Control’ is a mega hit. Made even more popular by yoof TV show Skins; it’s the song for the Myspace generation. Born and raised in Arkansas, USA, Gossip have been adopted by the British public, in the same way that Scissor Sisters did before them. Beth Ditto is herself an iconic star in her right now and as an outspoken advocate of gay rights, she is a powerful role model with an even more powerful voice! Gossip’s live shows are legendary and we wouldn’t want anyone else to close the Together stage than them. Belgium’s finest 2manydjs return for a second year, this time under their Soulwax moniker. Performing their acclaimed ‘Nite Versions’ show (live versions of their groundbreaking remixes for Klaxons, Justice, Digitalism, Daft Punk, LCD, Robbie Williams et al), prepare for something extra special from the kings of the dance. There’s more live antics too in the shape of The Presets - Modular’s uber-slick electronic duo. Back on form with album no.2 ‘Apocalypso’, the follow up to the brilliant ‘Beams’, expect a high-octane set from our favourite Aussies. On a DJ tip, Together invites some of its biggest names to the floor, with party-starter Mylo making a rare guest appearance on the decks alongside German noise-maker Boys Noize - the hottest new name on the electronic scene over the past few years. His ‘Oi Oi Oi’ album was one of the best albums of 2007 and he’ll comfortably fill the footsteps of MSTRKRFT, Tiga, Erol and Digitalism from recent years. And finally... Together residents and the Kitsune-signed Streetlife DJs throw their consideration weight on proceedings, with their own fearless genre-busting mash-up and re-edits, alongside the up-and-coming Union DJs – our new tips for the top!

GET LOADED IS BACK!

Returning for its 5th year of indie-crazed-rock and electro-jackin-dance, Lock N Load Events presents London’s definitive inner city festival  Get Loaded in the Park as we swagger back into town on Bank Holiday Sunday 24th August 2008 for another epic encounter on the capital’s finest field – Clapham Common. Get Loaded’s award-winning festival hit heady new heights last summer with a critically acclaimed line-up boasting The Streets, Dizzee Rascal, M.I.A, The Wombats, Dirty Pretty Things, The Go! Team, Yoda and 2manydjs amongst many others. Nominated at the UK Festival Awards for Best Medium Sized Festival, GLITP07 was widely acknowledged as the best Get Loaded yet!

5 years on from that hedonist debut day of getting loaded on the Common - where we devilishly reformed the Happy Mondays, Get Loaded in the Park 2008 has again upped the ante to deliver our strongest line-up EVER, packed full of festival exclusives, iconic geniuses and the best of the nu-skool brigade. Spanning more musical genres than ever before and offering you the ultimate festival experience right bang slap in the middle of your back yard... ladies and gentlemen, this summer it’s time to GET LOADED IN THE PARK

THIS YEAR’S HEADLINER IS...
IGGY & THE STOOGES

It is our great honour and pleasure to announce that Iggy & The Stooges are this year’s headline band at Get Loaded in the Park and will be closing the curtain on this summers show. In Iggy Pop, you have one of the world’s all-time greats. The quintessential front man; an innovator and a leader. Having reformed Iggy & The Stooges in 2003, ‘The Stooges’ features original members Ron (guitar) and Scott Asheton (drums), plus Mike Watt on bass and Steve Mackay on Sax. Back on the road since then, Iggy & The Stooges have smashed Reading & Leeds, played at Hammersmith Apollo - their first London performance since 1972 and brought the roof down at last year’s Glastonbury! Having celebrated his 60th Birthday in April 2007, Iggy Pop remains one of the greatest ever musical icons. With The Stooges, the albums ‘The Stooges’, ‘Fun House’ and ‘Raw Power’ and singles ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ and ‘No Fun’ (all recorded between 1967–1974  during their first spell together) stand the test of time as pioneering (alternative) punk rock recordings. Loved and renowned for his wild stage antics and touted to be the original founder of the ‘stage dive’... we welcome Iggy & The Stooges to the Common this August Bank Holiday weekend for what should be a truly unforgettable and magical day.
